Moodle downloads

All the documents on our moodle (mp3's, doc's etc etc) all currently download to the users area when they open them. Is there a way to stop this and just 'open' on thye site instead of thousands of doc's being downloaded all the time and then clearing out temp/download folders.

only way to open a file without downloading it is by running the application on the server - ie link your files to google apps/live@edu

mp3s don't have to be downloaded - in future, if you ensure your multimedia filters are enabled and then insert the mp3 as a hyperlink it will play inline in a player (same for wmv/flv movies) Can't help with Word docs though.
