    From briefly looking I need to install just the 'smbclient block' or the block and smbclient on seperate windows server?

    Moodle 2.0 can be configured to mount network drives as file repositories.

    Smbclient needs a Linux server

    Just my technician workign on it! so he needs to do nothing less than install the block, its a linux box

    You need to configure the smb client on the Linux box. There are some doc on here or on the moodle site.
