These are pretty thorough instructions on how to install an SSL certificate for Apache2 - https://knowledge.rapidssl.com/suppo...=1287126310117
Thnaks for the link, I am looking for instruction on what to enable first ie. turn ssl on in moolde, self sign certificate etc etc
Thanks

As far as I'm aware, there isn't anything special you need to do to enable SSL in moodle. If you've already generated a CSR (ie. a request from the Apache server) and have used that to get a commercial SSL certificate, then it should be as simple as installing that certificate on the Apache server.
There's no need for self-signing anything, as you've already got the paid for cert.
The only special thing is the use of 'loginhttps' in the moodle config. If it is set to true, it just encrypts the login stage. If false, you would have the entire install encrypted (this would be the route I'd take).
