Moodle NTLM?!

Been using Moodle flawlessly for ages, and earlier this year we set up NTLM without any glitches. The teachers/students loved not having to enter a username/password again!

Anyhow, come back from summer and some members (only some) of staff get a dialog to login to moodle - they don't get the normal moodle login screen even. This dialog doesn't even let them in with the correct user/password.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be? Nothing has changed really, especially nothing that suggests its only a few members of staff.

I'd be interested to hear the solution to this as it has also happened here, not just with Moodle but also our Joomla Intranet page although this seems to be an issue of users logging in from home for the most part.
In our case it may have something to do with the fact that we virtualised and installed 2008 on all our servers and breaking something in the process but our web server was just P2V'd and still runs Server 2003.
