    Installing WSS3 on Virtual PC

I've a dual core laptop on which I'm trying to install WSS 3 via Virtual PC. Everything seemed to be working well, until I got the following error message,

    "System.Data.SQLClient.SQLException was thrown....Cannot open Database "WSS_Search_WSS_Server"

Is the database created during the install of WSS 3, or do I have to set it up myself, and if so, how?

Funnily enough, I have just done this on VMWare for BETT. There is an option to install an embedded SQL server IIRC but what I did was install SQL 2005 Express (actually in a different VM because I like making life difficult for myself) and all ran fine.

I think you should be able to install SQL and then simply run the configuration wizard without having to do a full install which should save you some time.

Right, I've undertaken the 10 steps programme (er...sorry, that's something else). Right, after following your advice, I've gone through the setup without a hitch and have now bookmarked the home page. I can't really do much more at work today so I'll take the lappy home and try to find time to have a play tonight.
Eee, isn't it great doing it in tandem?
