Moodle Ldap settings if email field is blank in active directory
I have Moodle setup to authenticate with AD via Ldap. This works fine if the email field is populated in AD. However not all the students have a school email. If one of those users logs into moodle they are asked to fill in their profile page. If they fill in the email section say with there own email address and presses the update button on the profile page. The profile page is displayed again. The email they entered is displayed but they cannot get past the profile page. If they navigate to the course page and click on a course they a sent to the profile page again?
Full student email is being setup in the summer but I was hoping to get students trails of moodle up and running before then.

Maybe its not just the email missing?
I know frm experience if the email, first or last name is missing you are sent to the profile page to update these fields to correct ones. That's all well and good, however what it doesnt show is that the city/town and I believe the country is also required, so if you these fields either not filled through AD or not changeable by students then this could be the issue. Other fields like description I believe can be marked as mandatory.
I used ADModify to bulk update alot of our AD locations.

Make sure that in your LDAP Settings in Moodle that the Mail Field is not set to locked - or unlocked when empty i had this problem also, and found that to be one thing.
A bulk update of User Email Adresses may be the answer to get it sorted though

I might be missing something (as only glanced at thread), but doesn't Moodle require users to confirm any changes to their email address. I was under the impression you couldn't get past the profile page until the email is confirmed?

Yes Hightower it does by default I believe, though you can turn this feature off.

I just bulk changed all the students email field in AD to %email@example.com - most students dont have email here but did this just to get around the prompt you mentioned.
