Please could someone help
We have been having problems trying to work out how to upload users with no email and may have found a solution: apparently there is a parameter in a csv file that you can set...
But when we try to upload the file, we get a 404 error (resource moved etc).
Remembering that we have, about 3 months ago, uploaded the original set of users with no problems - what on earth could have changed?
I can't see anything wrong in the csv file - it doesnt work whether or not we have the email parameter, so it isnt that.
Has something corrupted?
I have searched moodle.org but cannot find a sensible answer (or else I just don't understand enough)
(we also get a 505 error when someone logs out but I don't know if it is related)

10th February 2010, 07:07 PM #5 Try downloading a load of users you already have as csv (in bulk user actions) and then using that csv file as your base for your new one -that way you know the format is correct (because I agree it sometimes has issues with "" I 've made them in Excel saved as csv; it hasn't worked and when I've opened up in notepad it's because it had extra "") However -that behaviour gives a different error message from a 404 so I don't think it would be that. DO you want to send a sample csv file so one of us could check it works (or doesn't) on our Moodles?

23rd March 2010, 09:31 AM #7 Just for info - this issue has hopefully been solved:
In AD, new users are given an email: user@school.local BEFORE they have logged in to moodle, If you need to do this for a lot of users you can bulk select them first and use the variable %username% to update all of the new accounts at once.
Then the system works as it should, with no need for csvs or anything (woo hoo!)
We hope....
