I have been asked to reset all user passwords on moodle and i am wondering if there is a bulk way to reset all users passwords, i think it involves downloading the users and uploading them with the new passwords in the CSV file but im not 100% sure please can someone help.

If you have already imported the users then the .csv file won't work I don't think as it'll try to recreate the users?

What you could do is use an SQL command to update the password field for all your users and then if they have set their email address tell them to use the forgotten password link to reset their password.

Yes you can download the users into a CSV file and then add the password into the CSV. Then go back into Moodle and use the upload user option and select update exisiting users.

Send me a PM if you need any help.

    Cheers,
    Steve

If you change the password to changeme then supposedly Moodle will auto force a password change.

If you want to use a random password, just put that in the CSV file and upload like I said above.

You can use IDAP for this. Have a look at this LDAP authentication - MoodleDocs
