Hello
Can someone give me some advice where to locate my moodledata folder? Currently it is in httpdocs(which is not recommended).... I have tried moving it up one level and altering config.php but it displayed some permission errors.
Its current location is /var/www/vhosts/DOMAIN/httpdocs/moodledata/
I have my own ubuntu server, but I am fairly new to linux filesystem etc.
Thanks

16th December 2009, 02:06 PM #2 Did you install moodle from the respository package? In this case, the installation is at /usr/share/moodle and you should just add an alias for it into your web server configuration. Everything else is set up for you (and if you change it, you'll screw the package manager over next time you want it to upgrade things for you).

16th December 2009, 03:31 PM #4 It is a virtual private server with Plesk - however I have installed moodle by downloading the zip and creating the DB. I just need to know where I might put the moodledata folder.... thanks

16th December 2009, 04:14 PM #5 I suggest /usr/local/share/moodle-data. On Debian-based (Ubuntu is one) systems, /usr/local is for the local adminsitrator's use and won't be touched by the package manager.

16th December 2009, 04:23 PM #7 You should double-check the moodle documentation, but I would imagine the same as the Apache use (probably www-data).
