    Moodle and ActiveTeach, ActiveBook apps

    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has any ActiveTeach or ActiveBook software loaded up on their moodle sites. We appear to be having some slight issues with some of ours (possibly IE related) but im not too sure.

Essentially it appears the software is just some flash thing that is embedded into a course, but for some reason its takes literally forever to open in IE. Also it seems like that resource files within the apps dont open in IE. Im inclined to think it might be a policy setting in GPO, but not quite sure where too look.

Everything actually works perfectly if i use firefox for example.

I got it working fine in Moodle. I had to setup my own Moodle installation to test the packages as they were not working on our platform. Moodle was actually very easy to do it with.

The ones supplied on the disc have something wrong with them, I beleive, so you should check the website for the latest updates.

Most of ours are downloaded from the website It only appears to be problematic with IE in school, which is a little annoying. I guess I will sift through our GPOs to see if its an issue with that?

We have downloaded the unit packs from Pearson (EDEXCEL Business Studies), and the original point about delays in interacting with the components I am getting a long delay in both IE and Firefox.

The problem im having this with is the GCSE Business Studies ActiveTeach and AS Chemistry modules. Seems like it might be a problem with IE? I tried it out ant home and it wasnt working with there either

Its funny as some of the others like our French and German ones work fine.

Everything also works perfectly in FireFox...

Managed to finally get someone from Pearson on the phone they gave us a solution that worked. Seems like its an option with the the windows handles the opening of files.

Open an explorer window Tools > folder options > file types > find the file type that your having issues with (doc and ppt in our case) then click on advanced. Uncheck the box that says "confirm open after download".

I dont suppose if anyone knows if there is a GPO option that i can apply that will do the same thing?

Sorry to bump this, but might be of help to others. Having finally managed to get through to someone at Person who knew a bit about moodle, ive found a few other things that might help.

If you have a pack that doesnt work, you can unzip it in the backend (as in on the server) and then the link to the imsmanifest.xml via scormm/aicc option under activity.

    Hope that helps some.

Just to let you know that ICT4life Active Teach software wont work full on moodle. Main Feature like Assessment feature missed out for VLE's.

    Cheers.

    Hello sorry to bump,

Is there any way of fixing the link opening issue, with changing the registry to use the "confirm open after download" as for me this the software should be written to overcome this option ....
