Not sure if this is the right place for this. We have a 64 bit Win 2K8 server running IIS7 and we run Moodle and the school website through it. I was wondering if it was possible to also run Sharepoint Server alongside this as the staff intranet. Has anyone done this?
I have a similarish situation as we have the same server setup and Moodle running on it. We don't host the school website but are looking at Sharepoint on it.
As an initial reaction I'm not sure that your external website and internal intranet should be on the same box unless you have a bulletproof security system setup.
Technically however I'd be interested to see this one. I just have this feeling in the back of my head that I'm going to break something if I put sharepoint on - so I hope you get a positive response!

Why do you need a separate staff intranet? Can't you configure Moodle so that the staff can get at the bits they need?

Ahh...I see

Basically yes you can run a MOSS Server alongside Moodle, Moodle acting as the VLE and SharePoint acting as the VLP (intranet). You could also use the moodle webparts to embed certain parts of moodle into the platform![]()
SharePoint will create another site in IIS, I am guessing Moddle and Website is running via Port 80 so maybe choose to use SharePoint over 443it's secure aswell then - shouldn't be any problems with security sharepoint is pretty tight. your main worry would be making sure you secure IIS Moodle Dir etc but if you are already using that i am guessing you have already secured those sites.
