Hi all
Currently using this guide Integrate Moodle, LDAP and SIMS.net - MoodleDocs.
On the home stretch of implementing our VLE, and am just about to roll it out to staff. What I need to know is that from anyone who has used the above: how can I force the creation of classes/courses from SIMS.net? Would be greatful for any advice. The reason I need to do this is that I need to sort them into course categories (yuck!)
thanks,
Richard

4th November 2009, 10:39 AM #2 We never really got the docs in that link to work.
You may want to PM Penfold as he is the guy who did the docs in the first place and now has a package that you can buy from him to do this all for you which does work and very well.

4th November 2009, 12:31 PM #3 As far as I know you can't get them into categories they are put into a default category that you can set.
We have it working but it took a fair amount of tinkering, if the new package just works that would be the way to go I feel.

4th November 2009, 12:47 PM #4 The new package will do the following:
Create classes based on the timetable
Allow for meta courses so multiple classes can be linked to a meta course, when this happens the link in the timetable changes to link to the top level meta course
Users (Students and staff) are auto enrolled on the courses as per their time tables
Group are auto created and named the same as the course code from the time table with users (students) being auto added to them.
If you are using meta courses the user permissions and group cascade upwards into the meta course auto enrolling students on the meta course (this is something greatly lacking in moodle itself)
There is alot more in the pipeline like parental access and attendance data but I believe this is a little way off.
