So in the progress of looking at VLEs and Parent Portals. We've had the a few companies in but obviously they are only going to talk about the good things and not mention the bad. So I'm just hoping it would be possible if anyone here works at a School in the northamptonshire area if we could come in and have a look at what you've done with your vle. The ones we'd be most interested in would be schools that have...
Frog
Fronter
LP+
and of course
Moodle with some kind of parental access portal.
If anyone has any ideas or would be kind enough to let us come in for a chat and look and play with there VLE we'd be very greatful.
Thanks in advance
Sam

If you have pots of money then go for Frog, as for the parental access you are talking about the webparts that Capita have created along with other partners and this I suspect is something you would want to look into.
We have Moodle VLE here which is now being used by the new year sevens. We haven't integrated it with the timetable yet as this is a syre fire way of turning the teaching staff off any VLE. Start small and then grow your teaching staff into it by creating incentive packages to the curriculum depts (£50 for each T & L project they manage, to go to their dept).
Get good teaching and learning frameworks built up prior to building your VLE and train the staff well. Don't force staff to use it but nurture them and give them help from the teaching staff who have embraced the ideals.
Good luck
P.S. have a quick look at ours, use the Guest account as it states and let me know what your first (honest) thoughts are. http://vle.bishopbarrington.net/

Looks pretty damn sexy to be honest.
How long did it take and how did you achieve it? I'm just starting out in Moodle so curious how challenging it was to make it look so good.
