Force user to change password on login
I am adding 2000 users to our AD and into our SP Farm. When I add them to Ad I am checking to have them change password on first login. When the users login to Sharepoint it does not prompt them to change there password. They are not going to be logging in to the domain on any boxes just thru Sharepoint. Is there a way to get Sharepoint to prompt them to change password on first login.
I am not a Sharepoint person so I apologize if this is very simple. I was told that Sharepoint creates there accounts from the OU I created in AD and that we are going to handle password resets for sharepoint thru AD so I assume if Sharepoint prompts the user to change password it will replicate that change in AD?

4th September 2009, 04:36 PM #2 You can setup a password reset area but I am not sure if sharepoint can do it. Exchange has a web feature to do it and I *think* windows server possibly could.
We have a similar issue with remote users but I simply have not had time to sort it out.
I know exchange can do it if you publish the correct folder (aka have something.com/resetpass/ which points to the internal exchange server/chgpass or something like that) but like I say it was a bit a go I looked at it.
At least you know it *should* be possible to hook something up

Hi
There is no built in way to do this afaik SharePoint allows you to use ADS or local NT users created on the SharePoint server to manage access authorization; however it does not provide a method for users to change their Active Directory or local NT user account password.
Their exists some webparts which may make meet your requirements Bamboo Password Change Web Part
And try a google for "moss 2007 prompt for password change"

4th September 2009, 05:07 PM #4 Here is one possible if you have exchange 2003 anywhere:
Enable Password Changing through OWA in Exchange 2003
You could copy the password reset dir and ask for auth on login to that directory.
