Is there suppose to be a space between the bt and c? It might not like that.dc=bt c
In the Moodle LDAP settings there is a setting to assign people in a certain Ad group to be course creators.
I have filled the settings in this feild as followings
Can anyone see why it doesn't work please?Code:cn=moodle_course_creators,ou=groups,ou=staff,dc=btc,dc=local
Thanks

Sorry thats happened some how during copy and paste. There is no space in the actual config
strange thing is on the original post there is no space although one is showing
I'd check two things:
1) The length of the group &/ the underscores.
2) Can you confirm/check &/show AD/UC with that relevant layout ie, an ou staff directly under your domain, and an ou under that called groups. (maybe it's the other way around, groups>staff?)
Domain>Staff>Groups
Hi,
I have tried a shorter name, still not working. That is the correct path.
The group is in an ou called groups and that ou is in a ou called staff.
the domain name is btc.local
Thanks
Still having the problem, any ideas anyone![]()
Have you set 'Member attribute uses dn' to '1' in the LDAP configuration on the Moodle server?
Thanks for the reply, i have yes

So users can authenticate fine, just wont assign Course Creator?
EDIT: We've left the optional settings blank.

Does this actually work? I 've no experience of LDAP so I can't assist but I did do a moodle forum search and it seems lots of people have difficulties with it, especially since the creation of roles in Moodle 1.7. Do you actually know or know of people who have got this working? Presumably the users are meant to become global course creators, ie, assigned the role site wide? Whether that's a good idea or not I wouldn't say but I'd be interested to find out who has got it working.
We have it up and running, all users use network accounts for moodle just this one little snag.
I can assign roles manually but would prefer it to be done automatically.
That's what I mean- do you know of people who have the automatic assign roles element of LDAP working? I know you can assign roles via csv straight into a course but I've no experience of doing it with LDAP.
It works here.. i think.
Hmmm seems really odd that it seems to be viewing ldap fine but cant get this bit working.![]()
