Becta collaboration: Does anyone know what a PLE is?
I like the mention of RM and Knowsley BSF.

Personalised Learning Environment.........linked with VLE.

It's one of those slightly fluffy titles. The definition changes depending upon who you ask but usually includes the following:
- Ability for the learner to adjust the environment according to how they like to work (e.g. themes, colours, movable blocks, etc.)
- 'Learning paths' appropriate to the individual (think 'gifted and talented' and less able learners following different routes)
- Feedback from the lesson provider (tutor/teacher/etc. marking work and leaving comments)
- Content appropriate to the user (not necessarily learner - e.g. parent/guardian being able to monitor their learner's progress)

Just another excuse for someone to be different and 'innovative'Virtual Learning Environment is definitely the most appropriate name in my eyes.
LLE = Logistix Learning Environment, genius![]()
Tailored Interactive Training & Support
I'm all for new and innovative ways to engage learners, but doesn't the IT industry get told off enough for using jargon? Education is starting to go far beyond IT now for creating TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms) for something which is practically the same as something else, with the odd, tiny, tweak.
It's getting ridiculous.
there arent that many acronyms in education, only
SLT or SMT, KS, G&T, SEN, ICT, DCSF, VLE, TA, HLTA, EAL, MFL, NQT, QTS, GTCE, NC, AST, NPQH, HoD, HoY, GCSE.
plus a few that crop up elsewhere
BSc, BA, BEd, MA, MEd and for some of us MBCS
