I am currently in the process assisting SLT in creating a new structure for Fronter next year. Does anyone know of a support group along the lines of SupportNet for SIMS that has help guides and rcommendations for using the Fronter VLE?
Or failing that, how many people are using Fronter here? If there is enough demand, I can make a Social Group on the site for Fronter Admins looking for help with this complicated program.

Don't think there is a "SupportNet" equivilant for Fronter. Why not just use Edugeek? There is a few of us using Fronter on here, me included. I'm happy to answer anything I can!

Not a forum as such but there are lots of FAQ's, documentation etc. Or as, AdamF suggests, use Edugeek, happy to help if I can.

9th June 2009, 06:52 PM #4 Ahhh, I thought not many people used it. Most threads are about Moodle and Joomla.
And the support site, used that and discovered the documentation there is useful, but still very complicated. Ideally I am trying to dig up information on planned releases or developer news to help plan the restructure.

9th June 2009, 08:02 PM #5 Your welcome to post away here. If your looking at how to structure your Fronter building I've had a bit of experience in what did and didn't work here. When I get a bit more time tomorrow I'll try and post some screen shots

New releases happen each year. The process is transparent, we have nothing to do. Interim updates come in sometimes, but you don't have to implement them if you don't want to.
Fronter work kinda socially in that they have groups that meet on a regular basis to discuss suggestions made by users. The group then collectively decides on the good bad or indifferent ideas to be implemented. Well I think that's what they do anyway
Fronter is implemented here across all the Primary Schools in the authority. The authority set up the initial structure for schools along with an Administrator's Forum. A small team of people are shortly, September, to begin supporting smaller primary schools that may not have their own technicians.

9th June 2009, 09:16 PM #8 I was listening to a recording of a recent Fronter 'conference' earlier today. Did anyone attend? It was in Liverpool. I didn't manage to listen to it all but I'm going to continue at some point as it sounded pretty interesting.

Updates are twice a year as are the 'Reference' groups where we meet to give feedback from schools within our LA and we also get the chance to rasie issue with Fronter and vote on what how development should progress.

10th June 2009, 09:20 AM #12 Thanks guys, the help is really great. I'll set up a VLE group or something on here too when I get a moment.
Currently management are looking to go with the structure of one room for each Key Stage then using subfolders for each subject, with students using links on the front page to reach the class resources, etc. Does anyone use a similar structure or something completely different? I'm also looking at alternatives as a structure to present in a meeting this Friday. Trying to gauge pros and cons of each.
Thanks!

Yesterday I finished the two day training course for Fronter.
I'd love a support group on here.

15th June 2009, 02:35 PM #14 How did it go? Learn anything interesting?
Also, I have finally got round to setting up the group here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/groups...vle-users.html
Feel free to join and add anything interesting you find on the these VLE forums or links, your own experiences, etc. Not officially affiliated with Fronter, bla bla legal bits.

These guides might help. They helped me in my quest to decipher the system.
