SQL Account for Moss 2007

I am trying to fix a major problem on my Moss 2007 Farm and when reinstalling Moss on a Front end server get a message

The entered username must be the same as the database access account for the server farm

when running the config wizard

I fill in SQL server name and hit retrive databases

is finds the config database

but the account i created is not the one it fills in for database access account

It tries to use an old account that was deleted last week (thats what caused all te problems)

anyway I have created a new user in the config database with db-owner rights also member of domain admins group
but wont work

Am i missing something here?

DId you set the new DB username in MOSS through stsadm?

what is the stsadm command to do this?

ok I tried to run
stsadm -o setconfigdb -connect -ds Sql-server -dn sharepoint_config -farmuser domain\
SERVERFARMADMIN -farmpassword ********

but get access denied



SERVERFARMADMIN is the db_owner (also member of donain\admins)
