Morning fellow geekers.
I am helping out at the SharePoint User Group event tonight in Birmingham and the topic is all about early adoption. How to get your SharePoint going in your environment.
So....
Was hoping for some help.
What has been the best thing in your environment to get SharePoint working in your school?
Mine are
- Custom Templates
- Branding
- Custom Lists
- Surveys - Formal and informal
- Navigation
What are yours?
Thanks
A.
BTW if you want to attend tonight - go to SharePoint User Group UK - Birmingham User Group Meeting - Tuesday February 17th
Whilst I think its good to show the positives we also need to be aware of areas that need more work and development.
My site great concept but needs work for education.
Wikis and blogs again need making easier for students to use. (I really meant teachers)
As an aside the problems that industry has with adoption of sharepoint is similar to education, sorry to harp on about it, its a change management issue
Yes I'll be there
Jon
We need to do a South West Sharepoint User Group meeting at some point - I know there must be a fair few schools using it down here. Would love to get to more of these meetings, but the travel costsare usually prohibative.
I attended the meeting. It was good to see a mixture of people from developers, power users, project managers etc.
There was splattering of banks, LAs, contractors and development houses.
There was a couple from education it would be nice to see more. What would surprise you is that education and the work in Sharepoint holds its own with the commercial sector.
Have a look at this blog its ideal for some of the work you are doing in education especially if you are not a developer more of a power user End User SharePoint
