Excuse my stupid question but... is there anyhting special I have to do to publish my sharepoint online.
I only want me to use it to update stuff as its a pain taking a 20gb VPC image everywhere.
I have smoothwall which I have port forwarded to the sharepoint server and registered its name, I get to the username and password but I get a DNS error when I log in.

have you set the alternative access mappings in the SharePoint Administration Site? That could be why its failing as its not mapping correctly or reverting to an internal name instead.

Think I need to do a bit of reading about this as my usual click and click method of learning is not working

Its quiet simple, into the admin side of it, alternate access mapping, specificy the address it comes over so for example https://extranet.yourschool.county.sch.uk etc and set the boxes according to the info on screen, reboot it all and voilla

AAM is the place to go. Im sure I posted some excellent links to some blog articles before in another post. If I find them, I will link them to this post too. Failing that, I will blog on it as well. It can be a bit of a pain to get right first time.
