8th July 2009, 10:28 AM #91 Hi ICTNUT,
I'm currently in the process for testing a new version of SIMS2MOODLE integration that doesn't use direct db access. direct db and support from capita is a gray area.
With the new version there will be the opportunity to have official support contacts.
The new version also doesn't have the technical barrier to implementation that direct db access has.
What's your time frame for implementing this?

8th July 2009, 10:37 AM #92 I want to get his in place for september 09.
The school has being using Moodle now for 2 years but has limited take up and it is now part of the school SIP to make this cross curricular.
One of the main reasons staff give for not using this is that is just takes to long to create classes and having moodle create these for them based on the SIMS timetable would remove this barrier.
This means that we would need to have the intergration in place within the next 3 weeks so migration from the current production moodle to the newly reveloped one and testing can take place.
Is this achieveable do you think?
What would be the costs for this (support)?

There isn't much difference the main one is direct database access is not supported by capita so it shouldn't be used. I have developed an alternative for which a support contract is available.

If your using the version that connects directly to the SIMS.net database the development of those plug-ins has stopped.
If you required any greater functionality you would need to move to the supported version.

14th August 2009, 12:35 PM #104 Ok I am trying to follow the instructions on the Moodle Docs page & i am a bit lost. I have placed the Enrolment plugin in the 'mod' folder and just get a "Module "sims" is not readable - check permissions" error when logging in. Is this something I have done wrong?
