Hi all,
We're getting closer to finally sorting out a solution for our Moodle-based VLE, integrated with our MIS system and running properly on a platform it likes (no more MSSQL
) but need to find out a few more things before we can go for it...
One of the stats that comes up on all the hosting \ support services is amount of bandwidth and storage space required. I know how many users we might have on the the VLE once it's fully live but as for storage I don't know, was wondering what you guys are using on your Moodles?
Total storage used and number of courses \ students would be a great help
Thanks,
Gerrard

12th December 2008, 11:26 AM #2 We have 1455 courses that are dynamically imported from SIMS, we also have a bunch of metacourses which most depts prefer to use (the majority of the SIMS courses are probably unused)
We are currently using 41GB for staff/student areas.
Most of the space is used by digital video or imported SCORM applications.
In the future we'll probably include their home areas in this and move it all to SAN.
edit: 1650 students

12th December 2008, 11:32 AM #3 We have 437 manually created courses that are all used to varying degrees. We have around 150 teachers and 1600 pupils (auth is via LDAP).
We are currently using 195G of disk space.
The site does 9.5Gbytes/day in bandwidth (also its interesting to note, that there's is more data uploaded than downloaded!)

Geoff your disk space and bandwidth seems really high, do you have a lot of multimedia on there or is it just a really heavily used system?

12th December 2008, 11:43 AM #5 Both. We have a lot of multimedia, plus it's heavily used.
