autoenrolling in moodle
sorry fellas, round the houses with this one!.
bascially i want to create a staff only area on moodle. Short of adding all the user's myself is there an easy way to do it?. we have ldap set up and i suspect there must be a way with that but i cant find it!.

How about the enrolment key thingy?
I have not used moodle for a couple of months (new school), but you could give the enrolment key to the staff and they only need it once to enrol top the course. Nobody can get onto the course without it.

i'm trying to put it on a plate for them, the teachers here will find any excuse to not like it and things like having to remember a password or ask for help would be clinchers!.

There's loads of enrolment methods for moodle, one of which is LDAP so you might be able to use that, if something in your context identified staff members.
Otherwise here we use an external database to control enrolement.

I would use and have used in the past flat file enrollment, use a text file to give the ID's which identify each member of staff and then the Course ID of the course you want to enroll them on.
