Fresh install of Frog Extracter crashes when run

    Hi there;

2 Fresh Windows 2008 Server R2 and 1 fresh Windows 7 32 bit I'm about to tear my hair out

This has been with Frog support for a few days with not much progress.

Basically we have migrated to a new Sims Server Win2008 R2 (the old Frog Extractor is running on our old Win2003 32bit Sims Server)

All went well until I try to install the latest SIMS extractor on the new Server, crashes on running SIMSCHECK.EXE or indeed any other Frog Extractor programs on the server.

Tried on a freshly built Windows 2008 R2 Server the same
    Then a Windows 7 32bit the same

all have SIMS Client installed, 3.5 .net enabled

Under event viewer (very similar on all tested servers) the crashes seems to point to this:

Frog Support is a bit puzzled by this. I have tried the latest SIMS extractor, run the thing in compatibility mode can anyone help?

    Thanks as always

    Sorted

It turned out to be SIMS.ini not being updated and has a blank location for the SIMS directory file, throwing up the obscure error.

    Hi MrWu,

Glad to hear this was resolved. Please take my details if you're ever stuck in the future - I'll always do my best to help if I can?

I've added this to our knowledgebase as it's something worth sharing: https://kb.frogtrade.com/index.php/S..._Import_Issues

    Many thanks!

    Thanks James

    Will do.

I do have a question that I hope you could advise me on...

We use the booking system in Frog that pulls SIMS timetable data and allow teachers to book ICT room through Frog

Our school has different periods timing from Mon-Thurs. vs Friday, so lesson periods timing is different

Normally, prior to Frogserver changeover to a newer one, when a teacher books a ICT room through Frog manually, Frog will validate the timetable data pulled from SIMS and flag if there is a clash, advising user that room can't be booked

With the new Frog server, it allows duplicate bookings, causing ICT rooms to be double booked.

Bookings that are done manually still validates clashes successfully ( against existing manual bookings) it only stops validating with SIMS timetable data

The Frog extractor seems to work ok, and I am seeing timetable data displayed in Frog. How does Frog validate booking data? I think Frogtrade helped us do this a few years ago where we had a similar problem, but new server transfer seems to have broken it.

    Can you advise?

    Many thanks

Sure thing! I'll get the behaviour checked and get back to you!

Just to confirm, are you referring to the diary brick (the blocky looking one) or the booking calendar?

Can you drop me a quick PM with your school details and I'll get a Service Desk ticket created to track it?

    Thanks a lot!
