Does anyone know of any open source forum software that can be configured to use IMAP authentication?

phpbb3 supports authentication plugins. nobody has written an IMAP plugin yet, but i does do LDAP if that helps.+

why would you choose to use IMAP as your source of authentication?

The forum would be running on an IMAP server. Does SMF run on LDAP?
