    DB Primary

    Hello

Can anyone tell me how they find the use of DB Primary? I haven't seen much of it yet but would love to hear what users think of it.

Do the students find it easy? Are teachers able to quickly pick it up and use it effectively? etc.

    Thanks
    Helen

I also heard that DB Primary is not using as well as some other DB programs. On my faculty, we were using Oracle for DB creation and maintenance.. it is pretty much simple program and very useful.

Later this week we've got the sales rep giving a demo of DB Primary so I would be interested in hearing your thoughts as well!

@TechSupp did you go with DB Primary in the end?

One of our federations have gone onto DB Primary, and they seem to like it.

Only things that we find annoying as hell, is you need to put in multiple exceptions for java applets, or they keep getting blocked/putting up "please let me run" alerts all the time.

Oh and email, oh god emails...... Within the same system it works ok, but when you email externally this is what you get:

Yep HTML attachments as the email.... Annnooyyyinnnggg!

Not even gone as far as a trial, we had a demo and .....nothing! They never came back to us with details. Not high on my list at the moment. Going to BETT so will have a look around then.

I have seen two demo's of this now and it look's like a tidy little VLE and comes in with some good pricing. Runs on HTML5 with some aspects of java mainly for the web cam use so should work on all platforms. Internal mail system flags up any profanity to specific administrators. I don't think our primary schools will be using any sort of external mailing system purely the internal option. Drag and drop is available for images and videos but we were told this is better in Chrome or Firefox.

I've removed java from curriculum machines and I don't fancy putting it back on so that will be one question I have for the rep.

Yes was told about the Chrome situation but I would rather just keep to one browser even if I am sticking to IE 9 at the moment due to IE10 issues.
