We have live communication server 2005 which all seems to be working fine,
however when viewing online users in Sharepoint Portal 2007 we cannot see
some of the user’s live status e.g if the user is already added to the
sharepoint page it doesn’t update the SIP address. If the user is added with a SIP
address then it works fine?
Good timing as I was just working on this last week.
When a user is added to SharePoint their details are read from Active Directory and then stored separately in SharePoint. The SharePoint details are not automatically updated when AD is updated - this includes display name and email address as well as their SIP address.
To update the details in SharePoint you will either have to do it all manually or use a provisioning tool to do so. See my profile for more details.
