Adding extra space to esxi 5

    Hi all

I have been using esxi for a while now and our server is running low on space. Rather than export all the vms add larger disks re install esxi and re import my vms is it possible to add a USB drive say 2tb and create a new data store for the vms to sit on ??

That'd be a bit slow wouldn't it (if possible)?

I take it you haven't got a SAN to sit the VMs on then?

Do you have no free HDD slots in the server to create a new data store?

ESXi only support SCSI, SAS and SATA (and SAN's, obviously), so USB is off the menu I'm afraid.

    Hi all

Thanks for the comments. No free bays on the server, looks like its the San route.

Thanks all for your time to reply.

What is your server - if its a HP or a Dell you could possibly use a SAS expansion box to just add more disks.
