    Terminal server always falls over

This seems to be a regular issue whenever i try using terminal servers, it'll sit running happily for months on end then one day it'll just fall over and have to be manually restarted as nothing can see it, RDP doesn't work etc.

This has been the case in the following instances:
Server 2003R2 Server on its own hardware and dedicated SAS disks
Server 2008R2 on the same hardware
Server 2008R2 running as a VM on completely different hardware

I've tried repeatedly resetting up the server, making sure to do everything right throughout the past but I just don't seem to have any luck with the buggers!

Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing these problems? Surely a dodgy terminal wouldn't cause the whole server VM to collapse? Also i've always found it to be incredibly slow once setup as a terminal server even with no other users connected and lots of resources assigned to it.

I set overnight reboot schedules for terminal servers, seems to clear up a few problems.

Same here. The 4 in my other school are set to restart nightly, and the number of issues that people have has dropped by 3/4.

It is generally down to the software on the system I find - memory leaks, and other poor coding lead to the system basically 'choking' on the load.

Yeh I'd reboot once a week or more. Clears out the RDP gremlins. Been the same since win2k/2003/2008.
