What to expect from Remote Desktop Services

I thought I setup a RDS server and setup client access correctly, but when I logged into the server with RDC as a client, I could still see the Server 2008 desktop, the admin tools ect. Is this normal, or am I missing a step to make it look like a windows client machine? When it is setup correctly, what can I expect to see from the client point of view that's differant from standard RDC?

You will see the standard desktop if you are logging in with a user who doesn't have group policies which restrict their access
