XenDesktop With Windows Live Movie maker
Hi,
We have just rolled out 30 XenDesktop PC's.
Our staff require, "Windows Live Movie Maker" to be installed.
But since there is no GPU in the VDI box. IT won't run.
Is there any workaround, or tweaks we can do. Which would allow us to run it?
Thanks,
Martin,

We are unable to add any GPUs the the servers.
Is there anyway to modify, movie maker?
Or is there another product we could try.

It would work with your XenDesktop VDI as well

I'm still searching for a way, we are unable to assign a GPU due to cost.
Unless we can get this to work, we won't be able to roll out our VDI solution.

Did take a look at the video I posted above?
While its not movie maker it does give you the option to use other movie editing software (naturaly theres the cost but at least you still get to roll out VDI).

The staff here, will only agree if we can get movie maker to work.
We have adobe premiere running, but they don't want to use it.

Your options are limited to none in that case - it is a bit of a U-turn from your 3rd post asking if there were any other software alternatives.
Either way have you considered a hybrid of both conventional PCs and Thin Clients? next year we will be moving to about 1/3rd full fat PCs and 2/3rds thin clients.

We tried other software, but the staff refused to try it.
At one point we were running thin clients for the whole school. But later moved to 3/4 PC, and the rest the old thin clients.
We were hoping to try VDI, as it's much easier to manage, that the conventional PC's

Yep its a case of Rock - You - Hard place.
Just have to keep one classroom of conventional PCs around.

Long shot - but does it work if you hold down the shift key when you try to launch WMM? That workaround used to work for Movie Maker when launching through remote dekstop - no idea if it will here though.

i am in the same boat. shift key does nnothing when launching wmm. Its too bad it wont work. i have yet to try the software mentioned above. This gpu thing is really rendering my vdi rollout as well. It wont run microsoft Kodu either because its cant find a pixel shader. I guess vdi is not for everyone, but damn seems like it hsould be able to run this stuff.
