Just got a quote for Citrix and the suppliers mentioned Ericom as a possible, cheaper option. It doesn't seem to have been discussed here. Anyone know about it, what it can do and how it compares.
Thanks
Do not know about Ericom, but if you want a cheaper way to do remote access look at Sun Secure Global Desktop. For thin clients look at Sun Ray
Blatant plug for what we do![]()
Hi there, Ericom is the No1 alternative to Citrix, it has 90% of the functionality at a third of the cost. Very big wins in public sector & education. It sits off box on its own server. You can fit up to 2,000 users on one server & as it sits off box, that means whatever updates you do on the terminal server, it will work with Ericom Powerterm Webconnect so no need to do permanent compatibility tests.
For more info check out www.ericom.co.uk

We have been using Ericom for about 6 months now serving all student faced school applications on over 100 thin clients.
The software is easy to use and not too difficult to administer. At £12k for the license was't cheap for our userbase ... but is a heck of a lot cheaper that citrix.
we have had a few problems with the student users and some of the applications we try to run on it ...... Dreamweaver kept dying and loading incorrectly ... but an upgrade to the latest version of the client and server fixed these.
In summary ... I LIKE IT![]()
