Not quite - I have a Windows Server 2003 VM running under KVM (on Debian Lenny) on a RAID 1 software RAID array. I'm still not sure if I quite get the idea of what KVM does that Xen doesn't - my other home server runs Debian Squeeze and Xen, and on there I can separatly mount VM disk images as working file systems. KVM seems to treat disk volumes differently, I can't simply mount a KVM file system outside a VM. My second server doesn't need hardware virtualisation support, either, which makes for a very cheap and low power-consumption device.

Not that fast, but pretty rapid.

The virtual machine in the video probably has nothing installed to slow it down.

The fact its running off SSDs as well will be helping that speed!
