As you may tell from previous posts i have been trying thinclients out this week. I finally got a good working set up today using the RIS server to issue the clients. I noticed that after the initial connection and the log on box appears for around 2-3 mins ?it then goes and you just get a black screen with a reconnect icon with a X cursor to reconnect.
1. Is this normal?
2. Can it be set up so it never goes away from the log on box at all?
3. Can thinclients machines be shutdown at night by a script like normal fat windows clients?
4. Can they be remotely rebooted?
Can anyone help with my questions above?

1. Is this normal?
Erm..? sorry can't help ther maybe Ric knows.
2. Can it be set up so it never goes away from the log on box at all?
I should think so.
3. Can thinclients machines be shutdown at night by a script like normal fat windows clients?
Yes this should prove too difficult depending on your setup.
4. Can they be remotely rebooted?
As long as they are PXE compatible this shouldn't prove difficult.

1) Yes.
2) I think Thinstation can be set up to reconnect automatically but tbh I wouldn't. Saves bandwidth and all that. If you want a log on box to appear permenantly try 2x ThinClientServer. It's free as long as you only have TS or NX clients.
3) Again, that depends on the software that you're using. With "proper" thin client hardware, that's generally done through the management interface. With 2X, again thats done through the management interface. With Thinstation I have no idea.
4) As long as the clients support WOL and PXE, yes.

We have a similar problem.... The pupils can log on to the thinclient workstations but after a few minutes it automatically logs them off again.
Not sure why this is happening, although I have noticed DHCP issues arising in event viewer.

I set AUTOSTART=Off so that students get a menu - when Citrix disconnects they get sent back to the menu
3. Can thinclients machines be shutdown at night by a script like normal fat windows clients?
I recall there's something on the thinstation dev list about how to do this
4. Can they be remotely rebooted?
install ssh or telnet server on the client.

If the TS isn't told to log off after x amount of inactivity then sounds like more of a network problem to me.
