G'Day
When a student logs onto the XP client they get a redirected start menu and desktop.
Now here is the problem
We have a Citrix farm that works great for remote access but I want to use it to publish apps for students
I have xenapp plugins installed on the xp client. I have published an app to a student. How can I get the published icon(s) to the start menu are desktop?
(I have set the options for shortcut presentation when I published the app)
I can get the applications to show on the xenapp plugin menu when you right click, but I want the whole thing to be a seamless as possible.
Cheers

25th February 2011, 02:09 PM #2 I done this as a temp solution for something a few months ago.
When I'm back in work on Monday I'll check my notes and send them to you. Unless you get the answer beforehand.

25th February 2011, 03:07 PM #4 Just remoted in and had a look.
I done what you had done but I remember having problems with the plugin.
Anyway, I installed the CitrixOnlinePlugin-Full (Not web) with the following switches:
CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe /silent SERVER_LOCATION="http://YOUR_CSG_SERVER/Citrix/PNAgent/config.xml" ENABLE_SSON="Yes"
Exit
After doing this, restarting the workstation and then logging in, the apps appeared.

Hi mate,
Yep they did.
When you say you have people accessing via remotely via Citrix, are you publishing the apps directly or via a desktop?
We have a mixture of both but to do what I wanted on this occasion I installed the app anto the XenApp servers and copied the shortcut to where the start menu/Programs/ are redirected to. I then created the App in the XenApp control panel and gave access to those that needed it. I then installed the plugin onto the PCs using the install parameters mentioned earlier. Thats all I done.

28th February 2011, 01:03 PM #7 Hi Bodminman
The way we do remote access is staff connect with a VPN connection, they then go to a citrix webpage (http://citrix-server/citrix/accessplatform) and log in again to get their apps or published desktop.
I have had no luck with the published apps. Done the install as you said, but no joy. Banging my head on desk as I type
Cheers

I use a Citrix Services Site for internal usage with PNAgent (the full Citrix online plugin). I've got apps published in XA and have them placed in a folder on the start menu called MyApps. From here users can create shortcuts on their desktops to access the apps. This setup seemed to be a touch more seamless that having users log into WI and launch apps. We've got some thin clients in play as well. They are to slowly replace retiring thick clients. Having both thick and thin client in use might cause some confusion among staff as they have slight differences in what the user is able to do, but, overall it works well.
For remote access I've got a regular WI site created.
