    VMWare experiment

    Hi,

I am experimenting with providing some solutions for win98 software and unbuntu using VMWare Server. I think i can make do without the kids needing to log on to the network, which means i dont have to worry about clashing VM guest machine names, but i would like to be able to automatically connect/mount to the users h: on the host machine. I believe that this is possible in MS Virtual PC once the Virtual Machine Additions are installed, but vPC doesnt give the the rest of the functionality i want.

Does anybody have any tips on how to do this, or if it's even possible, in VMWare server / player?

    Thanks

    Re: VMWare experiment

AFAIK VMWare guests won't access the hosts FileSystem directly as it's designed to be a secure environment - It can be done through the network, maybe setup some sort of internal NAT between the host and its client and use SMB.
