Citrix Media Player can't open file

It's another bad day on the Citrix farm.

If I logon as a student account and run an mpeg file or mp3 file it opens and plays video and sound fine. If I logon as a teacher account to the same server Media Player reports that the correct codec isn't installed.

This is on Server 2003 with Media Player 10 and playing identical files logged on as each user.

Any idea what the problem is?

    Thanks.

Are the codecs referenced in the profile somewhere? If pupils and teachers get different profiles, this would explain the problem.

I was wondering if it could be a profile issue, both profiles are built from the same source originally but I'll try giving a teacher the student profile and see.

It appears to be a bit more odd than that. If I logon to the same server from an XP box through the web interface they play fine but using the xenapp client on a new XP home netbook fails.
A bit more investigating is called for I think.

Are you using the same client version?

The new client has just been released for Windows too - shiny! Maybe try this?

Incidentally, have you upgraded to XenApp 5 FP2 yet? Lots of multimedia acceleration in there and logons seem rapid! Oh yeah... shiny icons too

Nope still on PS 4.5 FP1 at the moment, we had too much on over summer. XenApp 5 is penciled in for easter or next summer.

Are you running your Citrix units on Server 2008, if so any issues?

Technically I am still running 4.5 because I don't have any 2008 servers yet... 4.5 and 5 are interchangeable though

I just grabbed the ISO image for FP2 off My Citrix, expanded it and have installed over the top and it seems to work well. I'm just struggling to install EdgeSight but that isn't the end of the world.
