    Use your usual disaster backup/restore system. Just restore onto your vmware image as if it was your recovered live system.

    thanks geoff,
    thats sort of what we did previously, combined with ghost 2vi images.
    I thought someone might have an easier way of doing this

    There is a Virtual Appliance at www.vmware.com that does something like this for you IIRC.

    ok, I got hold of a 'trial' of p2v (the vmware solution)
    I'll give it a try tomorrow if it isn't too hectic.

    vmware converter takes care of this (its discussed elsewher in the forum) and given the date on this last thread i assume you now know this?
