I just turned off a VM in Xencenter and backed it up to a network drive using the 'Export as backup' function. When the backup had finished the file was only 7Gb in size, which is about the size of the C: drive without the page file of my 2008 server. I was under the impression that the image size would be the size of the virtual disk which is 40Gb. I don't think it's configured to setup the disks as sparse provisioned.
Does everyone else using Xenserver see the same when they backup a VM?
Cheers.

28th July 2009, 03:50 PM #3 Hmmm I just backed up another VM and that one ended up as 32Gb but the virtual disk is supposed to be 40Gb and does show as that. They both verified afterwards so they aren't corrupt as far as I know.
