How hard/easy is it to install Citrix Xenapp on our new blade. We are wanting to load balance it also.
We have been quoted a lot of money to have someone install it over 4 /5 days (is this right?), could we do it ourselves as Citrix/thin client newbie's?
Any experiences would be hugely appreciated

It's quite easy if you have the patience and are willing to read the manual. 5 days to install a single server seems rather excessive. It usually takes me 1 day from bare metal to fully functioning server with all the apps installed.

Took me and a colleague several attempts to get Xenserver and Xendesktop running smoothly - follow the pdf install guides word for word and you'll soon get the grips of it :-D
We are licensed for Xenapp - but not using it at the moment![]()

Took me about 3 days to get from a cd/manual to a fully working server, the first time. Now it takes about a day, from bare metal, to add a new server to the farm.
Read the guides, and have a browse of this forum. Lots of useful info here!
We had someone in to run us through installing our first box and setting up the farm, it took them about seven hours. They did say if for any reason it didn't work out as planned they might need to come back the next morning. 4/5 days sounds like a long time to me unless they're throwing loads of training in as well.

now our citrix is virtualised, it takes about 2 hrs to provision a new server.
5 days is way ott for a bare metal server. 2 days max,.
