We have Ericom installed, I find it very flexible, easy to administer and old clogged up, slow, dying fat clients now work brilliantly. Please feel free to contact me if you want more info.

Is Ericom a Citrix clone of some kind I've never heard of it?
No they label it as a Citrix alternative. It runs on Windows Terminal services. It's very flexible, you can run a full desktop session or we just run the Application zone, so students log in to windows xp as usual then they get a full screen window pop up with all apps, when they click on an icon the webconnect server connects them to the load balanced Terminal servers and launches the app, it's very quick. You can also run apps through the App Zone but make it use local resources, without them being installed locally, good for heavy resourceful apps.
Ok so a bit like Remote Apps in 2008 and the Citrix equivelent of application streaming.
Hi Guys, Thank you very much for all your help and support and sorry for tyhe dealy in replying. From what I understand after reading all your comments I think in the end vanilla TS on it's own isn't enough and something like Ericom or Citrix will be needed to have a complete Thin Client system.
Thanks again for your help.
jdibsdale gives a good overview of ericom.
We have ericom here ourselves -it gives you a complete thin client solution, some people call it poor mans citrix. I would say very worth having a look at, taking into consideration security aspects gives you complete control over access rights - integrates with directory svcs, improved info confidentiality -no data copied onto clients, reduces support overhead -with remote desktop support an improved employee and accessability on demand access and very good at what it does, good for your money and very popular with schools i am sure plenty more schools out there are using ericom i think they have a 300,000 seat rollout an they are based in UK
Are you based in Wales Earthling?
Butuz
No, I'm not, but I am Welsh.
Ah was hoping to come visit if you were based in Wales. Would like to see Sun Rays / SGD in action without having to travel hundreds of miles

For those of you that are running Thin Clients do you have a list of apps that just don't work at the moment? I'm looking into rolling out some thin clients hopefully during our next refresh cycle, but I'm trying to find out what can and can't be run from them.
