HP thin clients and USB problems
Ok here is an interesting one for you. I have just installed 40 HP T5540 thin clients, all working very well and speed from them is great. I have found 2 problems.
First is USB pens, if you plug your USB pen into the thin client it appears in my computer so pupils can access work, but it will not allow them to open any office documents straight from the pen drive. It throws up a permission problem, but they are able to copy documents from the pen drive to there network home area work on them there but if they try and save the document straight back to the pen drive they get the same error. They have to save to there network area then copy and paste the document back to the pen drive. I can not see any logic to this and it only happens with office documents and not other file types.
Also I have a problem with PDF’s if you try and print a PDF you get a message saying no printers are installed, but each thin client has a printer installed and can print happily from any other file type…
Just wondering if anyone else has seen these problems before of if anyone has any ideas for me to try.
Dave.

Terminal services? (2003 / 08?)
Citrix?

Some apps and drivers are still a little flaky on x64 so it's worth double checking these by trying the very latest revision (or sometimes an older revision).
