Desktop background on Citrix thin client
Working on trying to set up a background (wallpaper) for our Citrix thin client users. We already have two bitmap images for staff and pupils that our thick clients getwhen they log on through AD.
We want to use the same .bmp images on the citrix servers. Anyone know how to do this?

26th March 2009, 08:20 PM #3 Not sure what other people running a thin client system would say but we were advised strongly against using a backround of any sorts (screen refreshes and suchlike were mentioned) We have set the backround colour of students logons to the same colour as the wallpaper would have been anyway, just doesnt have the logo!
As for your question, you would set it in the same way you already do in AD. I cant confirm if that works 100% though for the reason above

Just do it through group policy on for the user node - when a kid logs on it will run the group policy and add the desktop - shouldn't affect performance dependant on how heavy the image is

17th April 2009, 08:52 AM #5 Group Policy will add it just fine... as artfulmatt mentions, keep it simple (i.e. not billions of colours and hugely complicated patterns) and it should be fine.
Performance will only be affected over 'slow' remote connections. You can use Policies in XenApp (via the Citrix Presentation Server Console) to disable the wallpaper though for connections under a certain speed. When doing this, it might also be worth checking that there isn't a policy disabling wallpaper at the moment.
