We are looking towards upgrading our admin computers to Citrix rather than replacing the machines.
Has anyone tried running facility on Citrix? or could give us some pointers.
Thanks in advance

You could always talk to a Citrix reseller and get an eval copy with which to test your solution. Qual (tel. Jo on 0117 373 0010) may be able to help you out.
I would help but we don't use Facility.![]()

Thanks ric_ we've already got Citrix and Facility![]()
We've installed it but not tried it, I thought that this might be something someone else had already done.
The testing phase will be quite tricky and I'm not too sure how to go about it?
Admin input data all day long and its mission critical - not much room for error here, but they won't be too happy putting in data to a dummy system as they will see it as a waste of time (different line managers etc). but If a few users test it out on the live system and it goes wrong it could cause all sorts of problems.
I'd love to see out admin staff on Citrix - it would save us so much time long term and would also save a lot of cash. Just need to be 100% sure it will work properly.

@CyberNerd: Since you will only be running the client via Citrix, set up a new server with Citrix on - an 'old' P4 will do - and install the client on that. Run the app and enter some data whilst monitoring performance (disk and CPU). You'll soon know how it's going to run.![]()
Did you ever get a resolution to this?
I'm just rolling out three schools over the summer with remote CMIS using Citrix. I have it installed and working as a published app now and it runs well from the server. I haven't stress tested this yet so I can't vouch for how its going to work in the long run.
I've had to create a separate client files directory for each user though which is a pain, but using the %USERNAME% in the startup variable fixes this fine.
N~
Ours runs fine and has been for over a year...

It worked, but CMIS manager got cold feet about it because the client setup wasn't officially supported - we ended up buying fat clients, then the HT got cold feet about CMIS and were heading back to SIMS again. A lot changes in a year - one step forward 2 steps back.
