Hi I need to create virtual machines on 30 desktop computers for this OCR module. Is there a way to push vmware player out using gpo/msi? I dont have much time to do this or I would run round and manually install it.
Virtual PC probably would be easier, got windows 7 enterprise?
I think you can extract the VMware Player .exe file using a /e switch. Within those files are msi's. You could pop all the files into a network share and then issue acommandCode:msiexec /i path\filename.msi /q
yes we do Synack
Yes, you can push the VMware player out with GPO or SCCM or anything like that. Do the extract above. I built a standalone XP/7 image and then dropped that on each machine after the install with script/GPO prefs/custom msi. Standalone image avoids the issues of duplicate SIDs etc, but it depends if they need network connectivity on the machines.
no network conect needed just a standalone vm
how do you propose i do this with gpo when its exe format
OK extracted and i have 3 msi files cmware playwer.msi vmwarevmcisockets.msi, and vmwarevmcisockets64.msi
I've selected vmware player.msi but it's not deploying. If i try running the msi from a machine I get the following message Error 2732. Directory Manager no initialized
