Who do you buy your computer components from?

Just curious. Who do you buy your 'bits', such as network cards, graphic cards, hard drives and other assorted odd items from?
This is both for personal and work purposes, and you can have multiple votes if you use more than one. If one is not listed please tell us who it is.

Well I tend to use ebuyer, scan and OCUK for my personal bits and pieces. For work I tend to use Insight, WStore and Misco for most things as we have website logins and credit pre-agreed so it's nice and easy :)

Personal Orders tends to be either CPltd or A2Z. Work is the same.

I tend to look for what I want on Dabs/BT Business Direct, then check to see if Amazon has the same thing cheaper as they can be a dark horse for things sometimes!

@soulfish - ebuyer do credit accounts too.
@angrytechnician - I do that too, Amazon's range is getting ever bigger, plus there are loads of resellers on there who have all sorts of "bits" which other suppliers don't have.

Home - Ebuyer and Scan. Used to use Aria but stopped after a bad experience dealing with returns.

Work - either Millennium Business Systems who we get all our workstations from, or a local-ish place called Ash Distribution.

First choice for most stuff is Aria (Dabs prices but with human contact) networky stuff from Videk and Cables etc. from Lindy

We dont buy them. All our machines are under warranty so we get them from Dell. Anything out of warranty is tossed out.

For odd bits like printers we get them from probrand or dabs

I did look at the Ebuyer credit account but it was a huge faff to setup. With Insight I phoned up and said "I'm a school" and they gave us credit. Ebuyer wanted bank details, references and lots of other info. It just wasn't worth the time to fill out the form when Insight are normally cheaper or as cheap (when using OGC pricing) as Ebuyer.

Ebuyer are such a pain to deal with we no longer use them any more. Once you do get a credit account setup you had better hope that the person at your school who first setup the account doesn't leave, because they will not speak to anyone else and you cannot get your contact details changed either. They obviously do not want our money which is fine with us - we'll go somewhere else. :mad:

BT Business Direct (Dabs) and Probrand ( IT Index) are the main ones we use will also shop around.

We use eBay a lot, and also Maplin on occasion as they now take PayPal. We have an account with Insight which we use sometimes.

I use a local company to me called RL Supplies. I would recommend them to IT Pros as they have a stringent "No trial policy" and they will test to the death before refunding, looking past that their prices beat everyone else - give them ago :)

Last few bits of kit I bought for home was a printer from Argos and some used RAM from the OcUK forums.
