Wouldn't be so bad if we had an SLT that backed us up when we try and impose sanctions for misuse. Slapped wrist and 2 days sitting at home enjoying himself for putting sushi in the paper tray of an HP 4650 to "see if it came out flat". Cost of repairs - £1066.00. No money in the budget and a new one would only cost about £850.
    AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Started working in schools supporting a single secondary. Moved to private sector supporting more than 100 schools, primary and secondary, special needs and PRUs [telephone and on-site support visits] for an LEA in a team of 4 technicians then moved back to supporting a single secondary school [1200 students and more than 120 staff]

I'm in the "other" camp. Work at an e-Learning centre providing support for the consultants here. Started here as a contractor a few months ago, and loved it. When they advertised for the permanent role, I jumped at it.

All my previous experience has been in the private sector, and I have been contracting since 1995. Prior to that I was in banking starting as a computer operator on Burroughs (Unisys) mainframes in 1974 and ended up as a change control co-ordinator.

As an aside, when I informed my careers master that I had got a job in computing, he told me I was stupid as there was no future in computing. He strongly advised me to take up a position he had secured for me as an apprentice armature winder . Advice I am grateful to have ignored, I have to say.

Secondary Education, primarily in AV support, though experience is in broadcast & medical IT.

ICT is a managed service, (RM), but standalones are increasing yearly... .

Also support 6 primaries & a special needs school.
