@TinyChimpboy: Trains travel quite regularly between Birmingham and Preston. If a few people are arriving at Preston at a similar time, we can always see about giving them a lift... DB has his monster truck now or I could come in a real car

Hmm... you know somthing i might just do that.. i have never came to one before and it would be nice to see some of you guys aswell as see what Dos_Box has lined up.
Is it going to cost anything there? or am i right in thinking i just going to have to pay for my Train Ticket etc
Train Ticket: Bham New Street - Preston = £32.50 Single.
Going to have to stay the night as train finishes at like 9pm
Hotel: Depends between £20 and £40 depending on which one i would of though
So Going to need about £100 lol

I'm currently looking into coming along. I'll be going into a placement in the IT industry (education sector or otherwise yet to be determined) but it'll probably prove useful anyway.
So I'll be coming from Brum new street seeing as trains don't run direct from walsall to preston

@Grommit: There has been two in Corby and one in London (ignoring the Rochdale conference) so far... we do try!

We have a location for a Midlands conference for October, but lets get the next one out of the way first.

Yeah that might be a plan. It all depends on a few things such as whether I can afford it and whether I've started my placement year by that point.
I'll be moving house (yet again *sigh* the life of a student) around that time so it'll depend on that too...

Are there any specific hotels being recommended for this?

Yes, I want everyone to stay at the Ibis Hotel at Preston (Hotel Ibis Preston North: book your Ibis hotel in PRESTON).
This way I can ensure everyone who want to go out for a drink with us can do (and yes, I will buy a few rounds, and funds permitting foot the meal bill) and there is a pub right next door. To get everyone to the conf I am laying on a coach as it is only a 20 min journey to Chorley. If anyone needs a lift from the station please let me know and we'll sort you out.

That should read, "Not forgetting the Rochdale one"

I think 'ignoring' is the correct term... some dodgy people presenting that day... thin clients eh?
