Hi All,
Very often you get posts about how people manage thier time and prioratise thier work schedules, well I know that a number of you have already got solutions in place based on OpenSource, *nix based products but there seem to be more and more eduTechs that are not in a position to go this route.
So I have put together a very feature rich helpdesk based on ASP and will connect to MSSQL 2000 and 2005 and also MySQL.
I am in the final phase of tweaking and hope to have it available to the masses on Monday 18th June 2007 but thought I would generate some intrest with a teaser screenshot and would welcome any questions people may have.
Above all it's going to be free for anyones use and the source code is open to abuse within reason that is.

Looks great Ozan, look forward to testing it, thanks!![]()
Looks great, would be excellent to replace our very elementary looking Liberum system
you have forms based authentication which requires pre population of user data or you can use NTLM for authentcation which will auto populate the staff tables for you.
I am working on the LDAP auth option and that should be available soon after the initial release.
As far as logging issues goes there is a neat little trick that scans the words typed in by a user and references the keywords in the knowledge base, if a match is found the suggested article is shown in realtime to the user prior to submitting the request and thus reducing the number of requests made.
Theres lots more in there but I am sure those that do use it will request additional stuff also.
Wow this is great!! I have been looking at several helpdesks including Liberum and Sharepoint with Helpdesk template.
I would love to try yours out! Please give me a shout as soon as it is available!
Andrew

Ozan: I've been waiting for this ever since I saw the coming may 31st on your website.
I'm currently using a RT windows install but it lacks the knowledgebase so I'm very keen.
Does your system allow for the creation of tickets via incoming email?
Thanks,
Ben
Email polling is already in the pipeline, the helpdesk itself already supports it but there is a requirement for a little windows app to "poll" for email.
The app itself is in development but I have put that on hold untill the helpdesk has been released and any creases have been ironed out but I wouldn't think it would be that much after the initial release.
Once the inital release is out I will put together and publish a road map to work out the direction of development.

Ok cool it's just that at the moment I use a web form that send itself via email for the users to enter jobs and if I can keep that then the backend can be changed at will.
Ben
Looking forward to the 18th to check this out, we've been looking for a more professional looking Helpdesk and Room Booking solution (currently we use liberum and a free roombooking thing), this combined with Craigs CRBS should help to make things look alot more appealing to our staff![]()
Can it authenticate against an IMAP server?
Wes
@wesleyw: Not at the moment but with intergrated NTLM and with LDAP to follow would you really need to use IMAP??
Sometimes its causes issue with external use. Both the teachers and the pupils have access to the helpdesk here. We use GLPI and OCS so we're not looking to change but it would be interesting to compare?
Wes
I'm sure it would'nt be that hard to include it but that would be at a later date.
ICTNUT> now that is VERY tasty, i shall have to keep an eye on this thread
