Apart from OP Software, I'm looking at DNA Helpdesk (it's ITIL so a more complex version of FITS) and Microsoft's own System Center Service Manager 2010. It's currently in beta, but it supports Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

We'll see if they're any good.

We have been tasked with implementing a helpdesk to comply with FITS. This was issued to us as a task in January and I really can't keep telling my manager's "it's being released soon, but don't know when."

We will be forced to move over to the Richmond service desk if I can't give any kind of solid answer.

I personally would really like to stay with OP but I can't justify the waiting any longer. I know this isn't Ozan's fault, and I'm really trying hard not to be pushy! I just really liked this solution and would hate all the anticipation to be wasted.

    Cheers

The release dates are as follows:

OPSD Lite - Will be available for download from 2nd March 2010
OPSD Pro - Will be available from 4th March 2010
OPSD Enterprise - Should be available from 8th March 2010

We are just putting finishing touches to the installation docs.

Exisiting users will need to contact us if they are using MySQL as thier backend database so we can convert it for them.

Our own support site will be updated later today as will the online demo.

Hope this puts a smlie on for a Monday

We have found that ITIL (although very effective) is overkill for schools and can lead to more confusion than solution.

Web site is being updated behind the scenes and will be made available later today, with the Lite version being available for download.

The Pro version will also be available but only for NEW customers, exisiting ones will be contacted over the next few days to arrange migration to the new version.

    See:

OP SmartDesk Update…. | OP Software - Solutions for Education

    New Software Editions
When we release OP SmartDesk there will be 3 versions available:
    • Lite or Free Version: This will provide entry level access to the world of helpesk software providing access to a single technician in order to log and track requests, unlimited user access and unlimited queues, however this version will not support email polling, SLAs, or asset management. There is no charge for this version.
    • Pro Version: This supports unlimited technicians and users, unlimited queues, email polling, SLAs, and email notifications but will not include Asset Management.
    • Enterprise Version: This is the same as the pro version but will also include Asset Management.
